Snow!

The snow has come! this is the coldest weather and the most snow there has been here in North Carolina for the past five years. I woke up yesterday to two inches of snow and a windy snowfall, It stoped snowing late in the afternoon at 5 inches :) it's beautiful out there. Once the wind stoped we bundled up and went out to play. It was Logan's second time in the snow, but first time he could play in it. He loved it, we had a great time walking and throwing snow...It's starting to warm up and the snow will melt in a few days, but it's fun to have and were taking advantage of the fun :)

In Loving Memory...

Last year my dear mother in law left us and went to be with her beloved savior. After batteling cancer for many years she is now happy, and free of pain. She was loving, caring, inspiring, had a beautiful heart, was always joyful, and lived her life to the fullest! She wasn't just an in law, but a friend, and someone I could come to for help, advise, etc encouragement . She played a big part in getting Scott and I together, was there on our first date (funny story you'll have to ask me about later) the director for the camps I cabin led for for years (while there she always gave me a goodnight kiss and a hug in the morning), she was a hiking partner who encouraged me to keep going, she wrote and sent me packages at school, she welcomed me to live in her home and treated me as one of her own, she was there when I picked out my wedding dress, and when Logan was born, she's been a part of my life for the last nine and a half years and I'm a better person because of it. I have so many memories with her, from crying together to laughing, she was so special and it hardly seems like it's been a year since she was last here.

The last memory I have of it being just the two of us was when the men went hunting and we had a girls night :) even though she was in so much pain she came over and we watched "The Princess Bride" and ate kettle corn, it was a really fun night. It hurts to think about it and it bring so many tears, but she's where she always dreamed of being. I remember at times when we'd together we'd hear the song playing "I can only imagine" she would sing it and get so excited about that day; She's no longer imagining, she living it!

Because she'd beat so many other battles we just figured she'd come out on top of this one as well. There was a lot of time of not knowing what was wrong, and when the time came when we did know it seemed to go so fast, I hardly remember a lot of the details. She was strong and positive till the end. I will always wish I had more time with her; it was never enough, but I'm so thankful for the time I did had, and so thankful she got to know her grandson whom she loved so much. The morning she passed away I remember seeing her arm held out in front of her as if she saw her savior welcoming her home. She was so loved, so dearly missed, and will always be remembered and close to my hearts.

I don't have a lot of pictures on our computer, but here are a few of the last one we had taken as a family.

I love and miss you mom!

Logan

This morning as I was sitting at the computer Logan walked over; he picked up the camera, handed it to me and stood against the wall smiling. He loves seeing pictures taken and then looking at them on the screen. Here's my happy boy :)Logan discovered early on that we have geese down the road, and has since than been fascinated by them. Every morning since he eagerly awaits going outside. He can now say Deese (geese) and is very excited about it. It's been pretty cold here and is getting ever more so, so going outside has proved to be a little more challenging. This morning we bundled up well and off we went on our morning walk to see the geese. They were not there (thankfully) so our walk was a considerable amount shorter (otherwise Logan has to chase them all over)

Here are a few highlights from our Christmas in North Carolina.

Christmas Day...
Christmas morning with just our family, for the first time
Logan having a great time opening his presents :)
lots of playing with toys
Hosting a festive Christmas dinner for some friends
coloring my hair for the first time on my own, Logan would not look at me the next morning, he would cover his eyes and run and hide behind Scott and he would scream and kick if I picked him up, it broke my heart, but he got used to it...

How do I get this opened?

Washington D.C.

Staying at a luxurious hotel just outside the city (gotta love great bids on priceline:)...Looking at every helicopter that flew over head hoping it would be the Presidents...Walking around all the monuments...Wishing I could have gone in the White house...Yummy pizza...taking Logan to the museum of natural history, and watching him react to all the animals and skeletons...Logan playing with a bucket of ice to keep him happy in the hotel room...Wondering what it's like to have the life of the presidential family...

my new favorite word is ice

Asheville N.C.

walking around looking in all the little shops and cafes

an almost sleepless night with all the "spiritually high in the land of ......" convention members swarming the hotel, laughing and yelling outside our window and hallway till one in the morning, then, a restless baby with what I think to have had bad dreams the rest of the night.

Walking around the Biltmore village, the estate was to expensive to visit, especially with a cranky little one...

missing home with all the mountains around

falling in love with a pair of Juicy Couture shoes at a small boutique...I must find a way to get them :)
